 MEET YOUR GARDNERS

We are career gardeners with years of experience in Boulder County. We pursue continuing education courses at CSU in Fort Collins, honing our skills and staying on the leading edge of environmental practices. We treat your garden like our own, and we’re proud to work with clients year after year, watching their yards, gardens, and families grow.

We'd love to meet your garden.

(And you.)

Anastasia Sitter - Head Gardener & Manager

Gardening experience & education:

I have a Bachelor’s degree in horticulture and a Certificate in Herbology.

Favorite plant (and why):

Gardenias-they smell heavenly!

Favorite thing about this job:

I love spending all day outside in the Colorado sunshine with the flowers and the bugs!

Katlyn Hitz - Gardener

Gardening experience & education:

I have over 7 years of agricultural experience, with an M.S. in Plant and Soil Science from the University of Kentucky.

Favorite plant (and why):

The pitcher plant. These plants are carnivorous, adapting to poor nutrient environments by eating animals (mostly insects). The evolution of life is so cool!

Favorite thing about this job:

I really enjoy the great group of people I work with, and I learn something new almost every day.

Amanda Downes - Office Manager

Gardening experience & education:

I worked on a flower farm while I was in college, and we sold beautiful bouquets at the Boulder Farmers Market. I’ve worked on the administrative side of things for 16 years now, and my passion and expertise is people. I have high standards for client service and I love working with people who feel the same way.

Favorite plant (and why):

Ferns—they remind me of the lush Oregon forests where I was born and raised.

Favorite thing about this job:

GROW is everything I could ask for in an employer. I wake up every day and look forward to working with some of my favorite humans at a company whose business ethics completely align with my personal philosophy.

Katie Kilbury - Owner and Founder

Gardening experience & education:

I grew up helping my mother in her garden. In high school, I worked for a local gardener, taking care of residential gardens in my hometown. I was trained as a chemical engineer and spent 6 years in that field, knowing I always wanted to retire to gardening. Then I realized I didn’t have to wait for retirement—and GROW was born. I went through the Colorado Master Gardener program and periodically attend courses and conferences on plants and growing techniques.

Favorite plant (and why):

Agastache rupestris (sunset hyssop), because it brings hummingbirds and butterflies to my garden.

Favorite thing about this job:

I love getting to know my customers and bringing beauty to their homes and the community. I also love improving my community in an environmentally responsible way.

Randa Liebe - Garden Crew Lead

Gardening experience & education:

I’ve been gardening most of my life. I’ve worked as assistant manager to a Master Gardener running a cut flower business, and I’ve been a professional landscaper in Colorado for over 3 years. In 2019, I took a course in irrigation and shrub pruning at CSU in Fort Collins. The 2020 season is my second season with GROW.

Favorite plant (and why):

Morning glories—they’re beautiful and tenacious. They’re self-seeders with hearty, spreading vines, and they greet the morning with a fresh face every day.

Favorite thing about this job:

It’s a tie between the amazing people I work with and the chance to spend every day outside, working with plants and immersing myself in the natural world.

Paul Marcucci - Garden Crew Lead

Gardening experience & education:

I’ve spent 25 years gardening in Colorado. I earned my Colorado Gardening Certificate in 2006 and completed the CSU Master Gardener Program in 2009.

Favorite plant (and why):

Roundleaf serviceberry. As practical as they sound, they’re quite pretty.

Favorite thing about this job:

All our wonderful clients, and working with the same people and gardens year after year.

Leah Andrews - Gardener Crew Lead

Gardening experience & education:

I started my plant career as a farmer for about 4 years; learning how to grow and provide food really proved to me that I belonged in the plant world. I also spent several years as an interior foliage tech, where I specialized in living plant walls and truly developed my love for plant care. This is my second season with GROW.

Favorite plant (and why):

My favorite household plant is a braided Ficus Amstel because who wouldn't want a small tree in their home!? My favorite plant in nature is a Bird of Paradise because they have such large, majestic foliage and they remind me of the summer I spent in Costa Rica.

Favorite thing about this job:

So many reasons: Spending my whole day outside, learning about new plants, basically being paid to work out, feeling like a badass, and working with some of my favorite people.

Jose Martinez - Irrigation Specialist

Gardening experience & education:

15+ years of irrigation experience in the field.  Workshop for understanding the basics of irrigation and design. Training in fusion process of PVC pipe.

All sorts of plants catch my attention due to the fact that I can provide proper watering and see the results and beautiful colors throughout the lifetime of the plant.
